The Role

The Mission Manager is the owns the execution of our satellite missions, from driving commercial interactions with our suppliers (bus, launch, ground segment), securing critical licenses, negotiating mission insurance policies, and delivering key documents to our suppliers as part of the mission execution. You will immediately play a key role in managing Loft's first few missions, while also contributing to our long term strategy for how we will manage multiple, concurrent multi-payload missions at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own, create, and implement Loft Orbital’s long term strategy for establishing a standard, scalable, reliable process execution of our satellite missions affordably and reliably.
  • Lead Loft Orbital’s contractual and strategic relationships, including all negotiation and procurement, with all of our external suppliers and partners (Satellite bus, Launch, and Ground Segment partners)
  • Overall Program Manager of the satellite mission: overseeing mission schedule and delivery of deliverables to all suppliers (e.g. key documents, test plans)
  • Support of all regulatory filings (NOAA, FCC, export) + securing mission insurance; in the long-term, help us establish regulatory as a strategic asset for the company
  • Support business development by negotiating Service-level Agreements with customers after a signed Term Sheet

Qualifications

MUST HAVES

  • 5+ year of experience as a program manager of small satellite missions
  • Experience interacting with various suppliers in the small satellite supply chain and building strong inter-personal relationships satellite manufacturers, launch and ground segment providers
  • Demonstrated experience creating and owning a schedule and budget for a small satellite mission and a track record of on-time and on-target delivery
  • Scrappiness, resourcefulness and a passion for working hard and learning fast
  • Demonstrated creativity in
  • A bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent field

NICE TO HAVES

  • Demonstrated experience with licensing processes for satellite missions, namely remote sensing and spectrum licensing
  • Experience negotiating contracts with various suppliers
  • An understanding of satellite and launch insurance policies
  • Experience with a wide range of payload types
